What is Doors of Change
For 24 years Doors of Change has been finding ways to help homeless youth between ages 17 and 24 get off the street into homes and into well-paying jobs. We’ve been doing it with contributions from the local San Diego community.
Why This Age Group?
Young people are still developing their sense of identity, stability, and direction. When they experience homelessness during this time, it can impact every part of their future.
By showing up early with the right support, we help young people build a foundation that leads to long-term stability, confidence, and opportunity.
How We Work
We connect with young people across San Diego County, focusing on those experiencing homelessness and in need of support. Our work centers on meeting immediate needs while also helping youth take next steps toward stability.
Many youth find their way to us through referrals from trusted community partners, including schools, local agencies, and other service providers.
We work alongside local businesses and partners to expand access to everyday resources like transportation, communication, employment support, and other essentials that help youth move forward.
Our approach is flexible and relationship-centered. We meet youth where they are, build trust over time, and support them in ways that reflect their individual goals and goals for the future.
